Material & Made to Measure

Hand-folded copper that matures into colour over weeks.

Every work is made from a single copper sheet — cut, folded, patinated and sealed by hand. Formats, depths and colour worlds can be tailored to your project.

Back of a work: copper sheet with wooden frame and drill holes for hanging
Construction

Frameless — the edge is the depth.

The edges of the copper sheet are folded to the back. This folded side forms the depth of the piece — which makes the work appear frameless. A classic picture frame is dispensed with entirely.

A wooden frame, fitted from behind and remaining invisible, provides stability and keeps the form true. It carries drill holes through which the work hangs flush against the wall, with no gap.

Technical details

Everything you need for planning.

Material

Surface
Patinated, sealed with clear lacquer
Minimum size
5 × 5 cm image size, min. 1 cm fold depth (cut area at 1 cm depth: 7 × 7 cm)
Maximum area
2.0 × 1.0 m (cut, incl. fold)
Fold depth
max. 7.5 cm · from 1.5 m² min. 2.5 cm
Cut allowance
The desired fold depth is added on each side (image size 120 × 80 cm at 1 cm depth → cut 122 × 82 cm). More depth = correspondingly larger cut area.
Weight
approx. 6 kg per m² incl. wooden frame
Production time
12–16 weeks from order (patina maturing)
Included
Signed certificate of authenticity (bilingual) with each work
Multi-part copper work at an angle – fold depth and copper edge visible
Hanging

So light that a nail is enough.

Via the drill holes in the wooden frame, the work hangs flush against the wall — recommended with no gap. Thanks to its low weight it needs no elaborate fixing: a 120 × 80 cm work hangs on two 2 mm nails in the wall plaster, without wall plugs or screws.

If a special solution is desired — such as a gallery hanging system — I fit it to the wooden frame on request. The specific fixing should be chosen on site according to the wall.

Environment & Care

Where the works belong — and how they stay beautiful.

Environment

Suitable for living and wellness environments. To avoid: direct contact with water and steam, outdoor areas, and places with strong temperature fluctuations — copper expands considerably, which can stress the patina over time.

Care

Do not wipe with a cloth. The patina has a microcrystalline structure; a cloth can catch despite the lacquer. Simply blow off dust briefly with a hairdryer on cold air and full power.

Made to Measure & Prices

Transparently calculated, individually tailored.

The price is based on the cut area — as a guide, not a rigid formula. The effort of the patina, the depth and the number of panels all play a part. I agree the final price individually for your project.

Guide price from €5,500 / m²
Example: A work with an image size of 120 × 80 cm at 1 cm depth gives a cut of 122 × 82 cm ≈ 1.0 m². As a rough guide that corresponds to a guide price from around €5,500 — the exact price depends on depth and patina effort.

Commissions: 50% deposit on order, 50% on delivery · production 12–16 weeks · project and trade terms on request.
